ploom studio

We know that the building industry can feel overwhelming, so we make it our mission to bring total clarity to your project. By blending interior design, drafting, and deep construction expertise, we ensure everyone is on the same page from the very start.

Our approach to interiors goes beyond just looking good; we create functional, well-documented designs that let you truly feel the flow of your home before work even begins. We back that vision with precision drafting highly accurate, easy-to-read technical plans that take the guesswork out of construction and keep things running smoothly on-site.

Because our roots are in residential construction, we look at your project through a different lens. We don’t just design for the aesthetic; we design for the reality of the build. This means we provide basic feasibility and cost clarity much sooner in the process, identifying potential hurdles before they become "site-day" surprises.

Think of us as your expert translators: we’re here to handle the "building-speak" and complex regulations with straightforward advice and open communication. Ultimately, we’re here to strip away the stress, leaving you with a seamless experience, rigorous cost control, and a space that feels exactly the way you intended.

The Evolution of Ploom: Solving the Structural Disconnect

The Catalyst:

Ploom Studio was born from a recurring systemic failure we witnessed within the residential building sector: the disconnect between architectural intent and structural execution. Operating as Nutech Building, we were frequently engaged at the construction phase only to discover that the provided designs were technically flawed, undocumented, or financially unfeasible. We saw firsthand how poor initial planning led to project stagnation, unnecessary variations, and compromised client visions.

The Shift:

We recognized that while a design exists in 2D, a home is a complex structural reality. By progressively integrating our construction expertise into the early concept stages of various projects, we identified a transformative pattern. When the "builder’s lens" is applied at the start, the project is significantly de-risked. Cost blowouts are mitigated, technical hurdles are identified before they reach the site, and the transition from paper to foundation becomes seamless.

The Validation:

Our clients confirmed the need for this integrated model. Internal surveys revealed that over 80% of our past clients would have prioritized an in-house design and consultancy service had it been available. It became clear that the market was seeking a more rigorous, transparent approach to the pre-construction phase.

The Solution :

This is why we established Ploom. By housing our dedicated designers and technical experts under one roof, we ensure that every sketch is grounded in buildability. We have replaced the "broken" traditional process with a streamlined model defined by proactive communication, refined documentation, and technical rigor. Our mission is to ensure every stakeholder operates with total clarity, absolute confidence, and complete control.

LEAD DESIGNER / DESIGN DIRECTOR

MADALYN FLEMING

With a career rooted in the NSW design scene, Madalyn joined Ploom after years of running her own independent design business. This background as a studio owner honed her ability to translate a client’s lifestyle into a physical sanctuary. While Ploom handles the technical complexities, Madalyn serves as the guardian of the aesthetic vision, focusing on the quiet magic of a well-designed room. She is passionate about the way thoughtful design can transform a daily routine, creating light-filled, effortless spaces that truly feel like home.

While the Ploom team leads the design and strategy, our success is shared with a loyal collective of long-standing industry partners and master trades.

These aren’t just "contractors" we found for a job; they are the specialists we’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with on-site for years. From the first pour of the slab to the final joinery detail, we rely on a hand-picked network of professionals who share our "builder’s lens" and our obsession with technical rigor.

By treating our trades as an extension of our core team, we’ve developed a shorthand communication that eliminates guesswork. For you, this means a project that moves with momentum and a home finished with the kind of pride that only comes from true partnership.
